Do you have knee problems?
Perhaps you have experienced less strength and stability or perhaps you have had an injury. Instead of sitting still on the sofa, with the correct support from a knee bandage or splint, as well as the right training exercises, you can get back to work.
A knee brace is not just a knee brace. Some of them specifically support the movements of the knee when running and walking, others support the knee when you are going down a ski slope. The neoprene bandages are water resistant, some bandages are pulled on – others are laid on, some warm, others wick away moisture and sweat, some are black, white or beige.
Differences and types of knee bandages:
- The elastic knee bandage or knee bandage that stabilizes and prevents swelling in the knee.
- The light and airy knee bandage is suitable for irritations in the knee.
- The small, simple knee bandage for "Springer's knee" or "Løberknæ"
- The preventive knee bandage , perhaps in neoprene, is particularly suitable for light discomfort in the knee, overexertion and osteoarthritis. The bandage increases blood circulation and is good for sports because it both warms and supports.
- The knee bandage with a pillow to control the kneecap is specially developed for problems or pain around the kneecap. The bandage keeps the kneecap in a neutral position, relieves pain and has adjustable straps.
- Knee braces with splints for meniscus/ligament problems and for and after cruciate ligament injuries or osteoarthritis.
Prevent knee injuries
The knee is the body's largest joint, which is located between the two longest bones, the femur and the tibia. The knee can therefore easily be exposed to overload and damage from blows, falls or kicks in connection with sports.
You can generally support your knee by:
- wear shock-absorbing, stable shoes
- have the right sole in the shoe that fits your foot exactly
- avoid being overweight
- avoid crossed legs (avoid overload altogether)
- make the run shorter
- swim backstroke instead of breaststroke
- use the right knee bandage during periods when the knee is stressed.
